Indications

Offers expedited relief by addressing both infection and inflammation together.

Assists in averting vision-threatening consequences linked to uncontrolled ocular infections or inflammation.

Dosage Guidelines

Direction for Use:

In general, place one to two drops in the injured eye(s) every four to six hours, or as prescribed.

In serious cases, the dose may be raised to one to two drops every hour at first.

It is normal for the frequency to slowly go down as the symptoms get better.

How to Use:

Clean your hands.

If it’s a suspension, give the bottle a good shake.

Turn your head back and pull your lower eyelid down.

You should not touch the dropper to the eye or any other surface while putting the fluid in it.

To stop systemic absorption as much as possible, gently close the eye and press the inner corner for one minute.

If you need to, do it again for the other eye.

If you use more than one eye medicine, wait at least 5 to 10 minutes before putting on the next one.

When Not to Use:

Eye diseases caused by viruses (like herpes simplex keratitis). Having fungal diseases in your eyes.

Not being able to handle Neomycin, Dexamethasone, or other aminoglycosides. Cataracts that were already there, unless it is closely watched.

Corneal thinning or wounds that haven’t healed (because steroids slow down the healing process).

Avoid touching or irritating the eyes

Apply cold compresses to reduce swelling and pain.

Alleviate eye strain by minimizing screen time and exposure to bright light.

Consistently consult your ophthalmologist if you experience chronic or recurrent issues.

Comparison with Other Treatments (plain antibiotic drops & steroid-only drops)

Neomycin and Dexamethasone Eye Drops work in two ways: they are antibiotics and reduce inflammation.

They are especially effective for treating bacterial eye infections with inflammation. Plain antibiotic eye drops only kill bacterial infections.

They don’t reduce redness, swelling, or inflammation. When a patient has an infection and pain from inflammation, plain antibiotics might not work.

The symptoms could stay even if the bacteria are under control. Steroid eye drops, such as prednisolone and loteprednol, reduce inflammation, allergies, and eye swelling.

They are effective for inflammatory diseases not caused by bacteria, such as uveitis and allergic conjunctivitis.

However, they do not kill bacteria. Using steroid-only drops for a bacterial infection can weaken the immune system. This might make the illness worse.

Special Dietary & Lifestyle Recommendations

Healthy living and proper cleanliness help Neomycin and Dexamethasone Eye Drops work better. An adequate vitamin A, omega-3 fatty acids, lutein, and zeaxanthin intake can help eye tissues heal faster.

Carrots, spinach, kale, citrus, almonds, salmon, and eggs are healthy. Hydrating helps keep eyes moist and reduce inflammation.

Avoiding dust, smoking, and allergies, limiting screen time, and taking breaks from digital devices helps lessen eye strain.

Keep your hands clean, don’t touch your eyes, and don’t share towels, cosmetics, or eye drops to avoid cross-contamination.

Protecting the eyes from irritation or harm in dusty or dangerous situations speeds up recovery along with the medication.

What Not to Do

Be careful not to get the dropper tip in your eye or anywhere else.

Throw out any drips that are old or discoloured.

Even if your symptoms improve, do not discontinue the drug or miss doses.

Without a prescription, you should not self-medicate.
