What are Esomeprazole and Domperidone Capsules? 

Esomeprazole and Domperidone capsules are a combination of drugs that are used for the treatment of several stomach and digestion-related problems.

They are heartburn, acid reflux, bloating, and post-meal fullness.

The capsule contains two active components: Esomeprazole, which reduces the secretion of acid in the stomach, and Domperidone, which facilitates the smoother flow of food through the digestive tract and also prevents nausea and vomiting.

Description 

Esomeprazole works by stopping the acid-producing pumps along the stomach lining, thereby decreasing acid secretion.

This reduces stomach pain, ulcers, and pain from heartburn.

Domperidone is a dopamine receptor antagonist that increases the efficiency of the stomach and intestine in moving and facilitating easy passage of food.

It tends to work on the brain’s vomiting center to inhibit nausea.

Both of these two drugs work together to stimulate digestion and pain relief caused by acid and slow stomach movement.

The capsule typically includes a 40 mg enteric-coated type of Esomeprazole and 30 mg extended-release Domperidone.

Diuretics or water pills can also interact, especially in older people or in patients with kidney problems.

This medicine is to be taken only during pregnancy after a doctor’s prescription.

Domperidone comes in contact with breast milk, and women who are lactating must consult a doctor.

Alcohol consumption is prohibited as it worsens the problem of stomach acid.

Do not drive any car or operate any machine if dizziness occurs after medication.

People affected with liver or kidney disease must take this capsule under a doctor’s guidance.

Can I Take It With Other Medicines? 

The medicine is safe to be taken with Paracetamol, vitamin supplements, and some antacids, provided there is a two-hour gap.

It can also be taken with diabetes medicines if you are under sugar level monitoring.

It cannot be taken with antibiotics like erythromycin or antifungals like ketoconazole.

Avoid using cisapride due to serious interaction with domperidone.
